This report is the second deliverable on May 2017 of the US-China FDI Project, a multi-year research initiative to provide greater transparency on FDI flows between China and the United States. Led by Rhodium Group and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, in partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the China General Chamber of Commerce USA, the project seeks to clarify trends and patterns in bilateral foreign direct investment (FDI) flows between the world’s two largest economies. This report updates the picture with full year 2016 data – the biggest year for bilateral investment on record, and the most remarkable politically – and describes the outlook for 2017.
