
John Darwin Van Fleet
Director of Corporate Globalization at Antai College of Economic and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University
John Darwin Van Fleet serves as adjunct faculty and Director, Corporate Globalization, at the Antai College of Economic & Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is also Curator of the "First Time in History" Project.
Through 2018, he was the founding executive director and Assistant Dean at the USC Marshall-SJTU Antai Global Executive MBA in Shanghai. Previous to his academic career, Van Fleet spent 15 years in the private sector, based in Japan and China.
He is extensively published on broader aspects of business, history and society in the East Asia region, in Nikkei Asia, The Asian Review of Books, Caixin, CGTN, The Diplomat, the Royal Asiatic Society China Journal, The China Project and Xinhua News. He published
his first book, Tales of Old Tokyo, in 2015.
His current research project, First Time in History: China’s Socioeconomic Rise Since 1978, is an ongoing multimedia enterprise (essays, podcasts, etc).
He holds both undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California.
