An interview with Madame Constance Newman on China, the United States and Africa

Madame Constance Newman shares her opinion on how China and the United States should work together to raise the standard of living for people in Africa. Newman explains that China and the United States are the largest contributor to Africa but with very different agendas. While China invests heavily in infrastructure, the United States invests in training and building cooperatives.  She believes that China and the United States should cooperate and coordinate their investment in developing Africa. The African issue was on the agenda of the 4th Strategic Economic Dialogue. China and the United States discussed development assistance and crisis management in Africa. Newman also touches on agricultural cooperation in Africa.

 

 

Constance Newman was the former United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.
