Room for Debate: A Chinese Rival to the World Bank

China has announced the creation of a large, internationally funded development bank to finance badly needed infrastructure in Asia.

But the United States is opposed to this Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank because it would rival existing institutions like the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, which are dominated by the U.S. and Japan.

Is this a reasonable stance? Should China, and its partners, build an alternative development bank?
