China 2020: Growth After Crisis

China was one of the first countries to emerge from lockdown, after its economic activity ground to a halt due to the global health crisis. Whether its economy continues to contract, or restart its historic growth, will have a significant impact on the global picture. Professor Lawrence Lau, an economist affiliated with Stanford University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, takes a look at China’s economic outlook for the rest of 2020, and anticipates a rapid turnaround. As China reopens, the coming months will reveal our resilience as a world and could offer an example on how to reboot and reopen in times of crises.
