Trump Takes an Optimistic Tone on North Korea Nuclear Talks

President Trump said that a third summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “could happen,” though he reiterated he would keep U.S. sanctions on Pyongyang in place until North Korea agrees to denuclearize.

Mr. Trump spoke on Thursday during an Oval Office meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who is seeking to persuade the U.S. and North Korea to make concessions that could lead Pyongyang to denuclearize.

Mr. Trump sounded an optimistic tone about the future of talks with North Korea, saying, “I really believe something very significant is going to happen” and noting that he recently opted not to increase sanctions on the country.
